This Immunology section offers a comprehensive and high quality range of testing for a variety of illnesses in thyroids, fertility hormones, oncology markers, infectious diseases and autoimmunity.
It is well-equipped with the state-of-the-art automated immunology analysers. Stringent internal quality control is carried out in every shift daily and external quality control is performed periodically to ensure the quality of results reported.
The majority of tests are performed on serum to determine the presence of antibodies produced by the human body in response to infectious organisms. The presence of IgM antibodies will help the physician to diagnose current infection whereas the presence of IgG antibodies determines immunity developed due to past infection. The panels of testing will provide a clearer picture of patient immunity status and thus aid in better patient care management.
Oncology markers can also be used to help in therapy checking and monitoring of the patient.
The serology section provides in vitro qualitative and quantitative detection in serum for epidemiological and diagnostic purposes. We provide quantitative testing such as Monotest (Paul Bunnels Test), Rheumatoid Factor and Mycoplasma IgM which assist the physician in diagnosis of mononucleosis, acute rheumatic fever and acute Mycoplasma infection.
We also provide quantitative serological testing such as Anti-Streptolysin O test, Widal & Weil Felix test, Brucella and Mycoplasma Total Antibody. These tests can assist doctors in the diagnosis of post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis, salmonella & rickettsial infection, brucellosis and Mycoplasma pneumonia infection.
In addition to performing daily internal quality control, we also subscribe to external CAP (College of American Pathologists) for quality assurance purposes in our serological testing.
